ATTN LADIES: This Is Why We Need To Start Being Kinder To Ourselves

ATTN LADIES: This Is Why We Need To Start Being Kinder To Ourselves

I am not gonna lie, being 29 isn’t easy… tbh, from 25 to 29 is really tough, especially as a woman.

It kinda feels like your life is spinning out of control, sometimes for the best reason and other times, it’s for the worst.

Between these years, I truly believe is the time we all learn the most.

When we are young, the lessons we learn are easier to see and to be applauded, we learn how to eat solids, we learn how to walk, how to talk, how to clap, how to count, how to write… these are so so visible, the progress is seen and you are congratulated for these things.

As we grow older, we are faced with things we never thought we would have to face, we get hurt… time and time again, we learn how to get up, we learn a whole level of strength we didn’t know we had in us.

We recognise our fears and anxieties, we learn how to deal with them, we learn how to be able to function in high-stress situations, with our anxiety having a front-row seat.

We learn how to drown out the noise while we are at work, we still do fall apart when we get home.

We learn how to keep our shoulders back and keep out head high while fighting back the tears.

We learn that we were taken advantage of, we learn that our pain is valid.

We learn that “NO” is a full sentence.

We learn who our true friends are, we learn that being “popular” isn’t everything, we learn who we can trust and we learn who we can’t… the hard way.

We learn who we are, we learn what we stand for and we learn what we want to become in our lives.

We understand our goals and values more than ever, and we also learn to eat spicier food and drink stronger coffee.

I think we really need to accept and take notice that all the lessons we learn and the changes we go through can't always be seen.

These lessons are just as important as learning how to walk because if we never learnt how to walk, we wouldn’t have learnt how to walk away.

You have to listen to your heart and acknowledge how well you are doing. This life is tough enough without having yourself tearing you down too.

In your twenties and in life at all, it is okay to not be okay, it is okay to not have all the answers.

We are all doing the best that we can, and you should never compare your own life standards that have been created by someone else.

Listen to the beat of your own heart, that is the only pace you need to keep.

As soon as you get ahead of yourself, things fall apart, as soon as you lose who you truly are, your world will crash around you.

Sadly, it seems to be programmed into our minds as women, that we can’t love who we are, we can’t reward ourselves and being kind to ourselves is something that is unheard of.

But that is beginning to change, thankfully, we have stronger women in power to show us and to teach us the lessons that sometimes we need a little bit of help with.

We are beginning to accept who we are, beginning to love every single inch of who we are and we are beginning to make a change with the stigma that is surrounded women.

We are stronger than ever.

The only race you need to compete in, is yours.

Be proud of how far you have come, because there was once a thought that crept into your mind mid tears in the middle of the night that made you believe that things wouldn’t get better… now look at you.

We are women, and that is our power.
